The Composer / Songwriter
Over the last several years Troy has expanded his
creative skills into composing music and the craft of songwriting. It was music
rather than lyrics that seemed to inspire him. More recently Troy has
demonstrated his skills as a composer and musical director for the National
Aboriginal Achievement Awards Show which was broadcast nationally on Global and
APTN television networks consecutively in 2008, 2009 and 2010 seasons. Troy’s
composing and production talents have also landed him work with the Reel World
Film Festival in Toronto where he composed the opening and closing theme for
the Festival in 2006. He has also lent his talents to Vancouver radio station,
Shore104FM, composing and producing commercial ads for the station and its
various clientele including The Keg, HSBC and Mr. Lube.
Troy has spent the majority
of his career earning credits on a variety of album productions, commercials
and show productions which is part of the reason why he has decided to create
his first full length album which is currently in production and due to be
released in the summer of 2011.
“I have a few credits to my name but
it would be nice to add my own name to that list as well”. –Troy Bynoe
Troy has focused on
broadening his knowledge of music and film impart by successfully completing
studies at the Berklee College of Music in Boston where he studied Film
Scoring.
“Learning the necessary skills and
applying them in everyday study was an invaluable experience that will carry on
with me throughout the course of my career as a composer.”
–Troy Bynoe
Troy has explored symphonic
and eclectic forms of music including classical, new age, world and theatre. He
has studied film scores and in particular the work of film composers Hans
Zimmer, John Williams, James Horner and John Keane. During this exploration
Troy comments that: “I concentrated on honing my chops as a keyboardist and
composer. No lyrics entered my mind, just chords and melodies.” Now Troy has
started expanding creatively into songwriting where in 2008 he co-wrote the
theme song, “Sit By My Fire”, for the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards
Show with fellow writers Andrea Menard, Raven Kanatakta and Plex.
“I’ve never been the type of person
who got turned on to songs because of their lyrics. Melody, chords and mood are
what I find innately appealing. I usually hear these first before any lyrics
come into play. When I sit down to write I usually try to come up with a good
chord progression and then listen for a melody. I will then fashion lyrics
around the emotion of the tune.” –Troy Bynoe

required no overhead costs since it allowed for an artist’s home to be turned
into a recording studio. It was a complete system that included in the package
Troy as producer, engineer and mixer, the In House Recording System and through
a strategic alliance, the renowned Metalworks Studios as the main mixing
